BMW Project i EV Due In 2012.

BMW, one of my favorite automobile manufacturers because they do it right, is hoping to come out with what they are calling the City/Project i in 2012 or 2013. It will be a small little city car (smaller than the Honda Fit) and will be powered by an electric motor, meeting California’s Zero-Emission-Vehicle (ZEV) requirements. The electricity for the car will be stored in a water-cooled lithium-ion battery pack that is expected to provide a 100-mile range – perfect for those city dwellers among us who still want to ride in style. BMW wants it to cost less than their Mini Cooper (still my favorite car I have ever owned), so I would expect prices to start well under $20,000. What do you think?

  • I'm not too crazy about this model, but I just saw a BMW advertisement for a fabric bodied car. Now that was strange but cool.
